ABOUT THE JOB

DART Aerospace is looking to expand its engineering department. Since 1975, DART has supplied the helicopter industry with products such as skid landing gear kits, bearpaws, external cargo baskets, access steps, transparencies, avionics modifications among many others.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop detailed design and assembly drawings with applicable specifications for mechanical equipment, dies/tools, and processes using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) software.
  • Design and fabricate fixtures required for product development testing and ensuring the designs are properly documented and validated prior to use.
  • Coordinate with and consult other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems using standard Dart procedures.
  • Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs, procedures and instructions for use.
  • Compute mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery, using computer-assisted equipment.
  • Lay out, draw, and reproduce illustrations for reference manuals and technical publications to describe operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems.
  • Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
  • Effectively communicate to incorporate applicable instructions and comments onto drawings.
  • Continuous engagement with the Director of Engineering to communicate progress, availability, and management of the Engineering Assets.
  • Build working relationship with shop manufacturing to meet customer deadline and to promote continuous improvement.
  • Communicate closely with all members of the project team to identify individual responsibilities, project goals and to further your understanding of product development.
  • Share applicable technical knowledge to improve all Dart Design & Engineering projects and further the knowledge and understanding of mechanical design within the company.
  • Identify areas where increased training or knowledge would benefit or compliment your expertise and determine a method for gaining this knowledge.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative office atmosphere through shared respect, reflection and philosophy.
  • Understand and comply with Dart safety rules and regulations. Conduct work in a safe and effective manner and encourage others to do so.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Demonstrate solid proficiency working with SolidWorks and related modules.
  • Degree or Certificate in design, drafting or related field or a minimum 5 years’ experience in mechanical design.
  • Experience designing for the rotorcraft industry would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to read, interpret, review and comment aerospace drawings, models and related technical documentation.
  • Demonstrate solid technical writing of reports, instructions, project history, etc.
  • Experience with drawing standards and annotations.
  • Working knowledge of computer office programs (Word, Excel, etc…)
  • Exposure to Aviation Regulation Requirements for certification and compliance would be considered an asset.
