Production Planner

Hawkesbury, Ontario

Open position


Reporting to the Production Planning and Control Manager, the Production Planner is fundamental in elaborating strategies and programs to ensure the efficient use of personnel, materials and equipment in order to meet production requirements. As the interface point for various departments, the production planner plays a key role in the coordination of projects, the efficient communication of priorities & objectives and the overall promotion of employee engagement towards continuous improvement.


  • Establish optimal production schedules to meet required dates and minimize operational cost.
  • Communicate weekly production schedule.
  • Collaborate with Production to update BOM’s and oversee their completeness and accuracy.
  • Perform rigorous follow-ups on production stoppage to determine impact on work orders and production schedule.
  • Maintain up-to-date out of stock products listing and revise planning list accordingly.
  • Optimize lead times, safety stocks and batch sizes through MRP parameters analysis.
  • Ensure minimal stock availability to meet urgent requests.
  • Manage and evaluate slow-moving and obsolete stocks.
  • Interface with various departments to assist Customer Support in problem resolution.
  • Coordinate supply chain activities.
  • Manage multiple continuous improvement projects to optimize product distribution and plant performance.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Product Management and Engineering on product launches.
  • Supervise the implementation and conformity of the production plan with lead hands and employees.
  • Other tasks as required.


  • Post-Secondary education relevant to the position
  • Five years related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Prior experience/knowledge of MRP system preferred
  • APICS Certification is an asset
  • Computer literacy, including working skills of Excel and e-mail
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must work well within a team environment with minimal guidance
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Fluent in French and English
