Senior Buyer - R&D

ABOUT THE JOB

DART has been growing at a rapid pace over the last few years. To sustain its rapid growth, we are now seeking a dynamic and resourceful individual to bolster our Procurement team. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Senior Buyer will be responsible for the purchasing of commodities and services for R&D activities. Using comprehensive knowledge to meet quality requirements and specifications, the Senior buyer will have full responsibility over R&D procurement, from commercial negotiation to PO execution.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Confer with Engineering to determine purchasing needs;
  • Conduct research to ascertain best suppliers and products in terms of value, delivery schedule and quality;
  • Evaluate bids and make recommendations based on commercial and technical factors;
  • Negotiate commercial contract and develop relationship with suppliers;
  • Establish delivery schedules, monitor progress, and contact suppliers to resolve issues;
  • Coordinate the movement of purchased materials;
  • Identify discrepancies between shipments and orders and take action;
  • Ensure that orders are expedited by following up with vendors on a regular basis;
  • Communicate all delays or variances of inbound freight to the appropriate parties;
  • Compile data to generate weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports to be used for cost-saving initiatives;
  • Contact suppliers regarding errors in partial or duplicate shipments, prices, and substitutions.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • 5 to 10 years progressive experience in a purchasing role;
  • High School Diploma or GED required;
  • Post Secondary Diploma in Purchasing is an asset;
  • Direct working knowledge of operations and warehouse management;
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards, requirements, and vendors is a strong asset:
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills;
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite;
  • Excellent teamwork and team building skills;
  • Bilingual (French & English) is an asset..
